Tasty Tuesday: Philly Chicken Sandwiches

Philly Cheesesteaks are good, I guess.  But if (like me) you don’t eat steak- this is a great take on it. I started ordering these sandwiches at Publix, back when we still lived in Florida. If you know Publix, you know they make good food! The Hubs and I have also found this sandwich shop on base that makes awesome Philly Chicken sandwiches, so I figured I could make it at home myself and it really isn’t that hard.

You’ll Need:

Sandwich Rolls
Sliced chicken (We get ours from the deli)
Provolone Cheese
Green Peppers (I use the frozen kind)
Onions (Again, frozen)
Mayonnaise
PAM (Or your generic cooking oil spray)
French fries

Get Cooking!

COOK french fries according to package directions. (We place ours in the oven- less greasy that way)

While the french fries are cooking:
TEAR up the chicken into smaller pieces and cook in a hot frying pan (or on a griddle if you have one) that has been sprayed with cooking oil.
ADD green peppers and onions to the pan. Cook until chicken has browned and vegetables are slightly crispy/crunchy.
TOP with provolone cheese and allow the cheese to melt. Meanwhile, you can toast the rolls and add mayonnaise to them.
ONCE the provolone cheese has melted, add it to the rolls and serve with french fries.

Finally, Grub On It!

  • That sounds really good! I do make philly cheesesteaks sometimes, maybe next time I’ll try this. I have a recipe for a great chipotle southwestern sauce that is good on philly sandwhiches. I’ll put it on next weeks post!
