I mean seriously?
When I lived in Florida, I could not turn on the television without hearing about teachers and coaches having sex with their students. You think it’s a joke? Read this Time Magazine article where they call it a “Florida Epidemic” in regards to teachers sleeping with their students.
Just like when I send my 2 year old to daycare, I expect her to have an enriching, educational and social experience- parents expect the same when they send their children to school to be with us. Educators, teachers. We are supposed to be helping to mold the future, not taking their virginity.
I mean take your pick. There’s these two chicks:

who both like to have sex with 14 year olds. Then there’s this lady:

Who bought liquor for her students, took them back to a hotel for a “party” and got caught sleeping with a 17 year old in the shower. Umm okay.
This lady:

had been sleeping with a 16 year old boy and finally got caught after having sex in A CAR by his house and dad saw them and called the cops. Classy… right? Could you be any more dumb?
Oh and this lady:

slept with 8 players on her high school’s baseball team. Really? EIGHT?
And it’s not just women, I tried to search for male teachers, but Google seems to be fascinated with the women teachers. See a long list here.
And then last night on the news? This douchebag:

Dean of Students and a coach was having sex with a 17 year old girl, which according to her was consensual.
I have conflicting views/feelings on these matters and a lot of you that read my blog are teachers too, so let’s get into this.
First of all, we (teachers) should never, EVER, ever (Did I say never?) be interacting with our students in manners that are anything more or less than professional. I am the teacher, you are the student. The end.
Do we care about our students? Of course. I’ve had students that I have loved as if they came out of my womb.
That does not mean that I look at a kid, a child- especially as a mom- and go “wow s/he is hot, we should have sex now.” Honestly? I can’t even fathom.
Second, do I think all of these kids are innocent and “victims”? No.
I’ve been hit on by students- more than once. I taught at a K-8 and certain 8th grade boys? Were disgustingly blatant about their feelings. Telling me that I was “fine” and one even went as far as to tell me that I had a “nice ass.”
Seriously dude?
To me, the key to handling a situation like that is not downplaying it, but letting the kid know asap that it is inappropriate and if it continues it will go 2 places- to the principal and his mother. I am a teacher here (even if I’m not your teacher) and deserve to be treated with respect as a figure of authority.
That stopped faster than fast.
But I can see how these situations can get out of hand. I was in high school too y’all. If we had a hot, young teacher- the kids were NOT afraid to vocalize it to said teacher. “Kids” these days, and I use the term kids lightly, know what they want and figure out how to get it. I’m glad that the 17 year old girl in the case told authorities that it was consensual, I mean we have middle school kids having babies now, these kids are having sex folks.
BUT
That in no way justifies a grown ass person having sex with a child, especially a student. You are an authority figure, you set the bar, and sleeping with teens in showers and cars and buying liquor for them- seriously? Where are your morals. Something has to be wrong with someone like that to think even for a second that sleeping with a student is okay.
Why did you become a teacher? To hang around young kids and be a predator? It’s disgusting. Our kids need to be safe. Parents don’t send their kids to school thinking their teacher is going to have sex with them. I told my husband last night that soon they are gonna do psychological evaluations on teachers, like joining the damn CIA or FBI or something- to see if you have pedophile tendencies or if you could even think about sleeping with a student.
It’s hard enough for teachers out there as it is. We don’t get paid enough, we are not often respected or appreciated and now this public humiliation puts a stigma on the entire career. It disgusts me and I could rant on and on, but I’m done here.
Your turn. Thoughts?

any adult having sex with a child is disgusting. end of story. adults are supposed to take care of children. not take care of their needs with children.
i throw up in my mouth whenever i hear stories like this because EW!
Amen girl!
I agree with you. Teachers are in a position of trust. These predators you point out? Violated the shit out of that trust. Where else can our kids be safe if not in school? It’s just disgusting and infuriating.
That is just disgusting. We send our kids to school thinking their getting an education in a place that is safe and here they are getting manipulated by adults. Just sick.
I have been out of high school for 16 years now and in my 4 years of high school (or immediately after my graduation) I had 3 teachers (all male) loose their jobs for having “relationships” with students. Only one of them was a hot young teacher and the summer after my graduation he was delivering pizza since he had lost his job. The other two were older, well respected teachers (by their peers and parents). There were two female teachers though(one who went on to become principal of my high school) who were widely known to go after and have “relationships” with the most popular guys in school. Back then the guys didn’t tell on the women. They felt like that would make them “punks”.
I am glad that it is being addressed more and brough out into the light. I know my mom didn’t have a clue but us students all knew what was going on.
Very sad… Priests, ministers and teachers are the people that you think that you child should be the safest with but we all know how that works out…
