Are you generally aware of what’s happening around you? Do you look up?
I am going to say yes. As a girl who grew up in New York City, it is second nature to me to look up, down, around and truly be aware of who is surrounding me. I don’t trust people, by nature, and 9 times out of 10 when I am in a place where they are large crowds, I am waiting for something to happen. I know where the exits are and I know how to get there quickly. I’m also thinking of what I need to do to keep my child safe, just in case. Paranoid? Maybe. OR I’ve experienced enough in my life to know that stuff happens and I need to be ready for doggone near anything.
If someone’s walking to closely behind me, I always stop walking, step to the side and let them pass. If someone is standing too closely to me, I will move. I’m looking at where people’s hand are, how their behavior is- are they acting paranoid? strange in any way? Even on the road, I’m paying attention to other people’s speeds and any erratic driving.
No, I’m not schizophrenic like Thomas Kilbride, but I do think that life experience plays a huge role in how aware one is of their surroundings.
Do I look up? Yes, but not as much as I look around. I think if I lived in a big city I might look up more because there’s something to look up at. There’s nothing to look up at in Colorado but planes from the airport and Air Force Base and the mountains- been there, done that.
What about you? Are you aware of your surroundings? Do you look up much?
