BlogHer Book Club: Trust Your Eyes- Do You Travel By Map?

This is a paid review for BlogHer Book Club but the opinions expressed are my own.

With work back in full swing, it’s hard for me to pick up a book and read. I was able to read Trust Your Eyes by Linwood Barclay and was pleasantly surprised. I used to read thrillers all of the time, but it’s been a good 6 or  7 years since I’ve picked one up. For no reason other than there are so many, I can’t ever decide on one.

In Trust Your Eyes Thomas Kilbride, who suffers from schizophrenia, is obsessed with maps. More specifically, he is obsessed with his mapping software on the computer which allows him to explore any city in the world that he wants street-by-street, store-by-store. My husband and I actually travel a lot via road trip and I do carry a physical map of the United States with us just in case our technology breaks down.

I can’t say, though, that I have ever traveled by map (nor virtually). I guess it’s cool that you can see a city right on your computer, but I am so much more inclined to see a city/country for real- with my feet on the ground in that specific place.

What about you? Would you consider “traveling” by map? Have you ever used virtual mapping software?
