I really wanted to get my husband a new phone for his birthday. I was leaning towards the Galaxy S III until Apple released info. about the new iPhone 5. My husband covets iPhones. I’m not sure why. But when he found out what I wanted to do he was absolutely against it. There was no way that I was going to spend money on a new phone for him. Of course, I ordered the phone anyway and he said to me “honey, you don’t listen… and you wonder where Cadence gets it from.”
What?
I listen… right?
Pea does not get her inability to follow certain directions from me. That’s asinine.
While texting a friend this morning, she said the following:

Pea has my personality.
Well, then.
I guess if I sit back and think about it, then I’d have to to say it out loud and confess to myself that she does.
She’s stubborn.
She doesn’t want anyone to tell her what to do; she wants to do what she wants to do.
She can be very serious.
And there are other things that make her “like me…”
I often bump heads with Pea.
Okay, I damn near always bump heads with Pea. Over. Everything.
And her dad? Is like her hero. She just adores him. But for me? She gets mad at me so much and I, her. It’s so frustrating more often than not.
She tells me that I’m using “mean words” with her.
And maybe, just maybe, I can confess that we bump heads because we’re so much alike.
It’s hard to stare into the face of someone, who at the age of 3, if just. like. you.
It’s hard to live side-by-side with someone who is just.like. you. Without any conflict.
But you know what? If she’s just like me?
She’ll be a fighter.
She’ll stand up for what’s right.
She’ll be honest.
She won’t give a shit about winning friends because her morals and values will supersede the superficial things.
She’ll be brave.
She’ll take risks.
And she’ll do well in life.
Cause that’s my girl.
